KIDS is a national charity and leading service provider offering an extensive range of services for disabled children and their families. They are currently recruiting for three posts.
SENDIASS Practitioner (previously Parent Partnership Service) – Hull
32 hours per week or full-time/36 hours per week will be considered
Salary £ 20,395 FTE
KIDS are looking to recruit a SENDIASS Practitioner to ensure that all parents/carers of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities have access to impartial information, advice and support.
The successful applicant will need to liaise closely with schools, the statutory and voluntary sector and other relevant agencies, and offer support to parents/carers to enable them to participate confidently and effectively in an informed way in the decision-making process regarding their child’s education.
Excellent communication skills, minimum NVQ level 3 or equivalent, knowledge of special educational needs legislation, experience of working in either the voluntary or statutory sector or both, and a current driving licence and access to a car will be required.
Independent Support Practitioner – East Riding
18 hours fixed term contract initially until March 2016
Independent Support Practitioner – Hull
36 hours fixed term contract initially until March 2016
Full Time Equivalent Salary £20,395
KIDS are presently recruiting for the above two posts in the role of Independent Support Practitioner; part-time to work across the East Riding Local Authority and full-time in Hull.
Independent Support is a national programme commissioned by the Department of Education through the Council for Disabled Children, to fund the voluntary, private and community sector to employ staff and volunteers to support parents and young people through the recent education reforms; particularly in relation to those transitioning from Statements of SEN to Education, Health and Care Plans and to support those newly entering the SEN assessment process.
The role of the Independent Support Practitioners will be to provide help, advice and support to any family or young person going through a statutory Education Health and Care needs assessment and those who are transitioning over to the new Education, Health and Care assessment and planning process. Full training and a comprehensive induction will be provided.
KIDS are looking for applicants with a relevant NVQ 3 qualification and for people who will be able to demonstrate:-
- Knowledge of present provision for children with special educational needs and disabilities within the local area you will be working.
- Experience of working within an environment relevant to special educational needs and disability.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate with schools, the local authority and partner agencies.
- Experience of advising, empowering and supporting parents and /or young people.
