Goodwin Development Trust is seeking a driven and entrepreneurial Community Food Manager to build and develop their catering operation to become one of the most exciting food ventures in the city and develop their Community Cafe as Goodwin’s focus on tackling food poverty, healthy eating and family learning.
Community Food Manager (Job Ref: CFM01)
Full Time – 37 hours (some evening & weekend work may be required)
Salary – Circa £20k+ depending on qualifications and experience
This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious and innovative catering professional to build and develop our catering operations. You will be responsible for developing a dynamic catering business model that maximises the commercial potential for all kitchen sites, including the Goodwin Community Cafe and the Octagon Conference catering facilities.
You will be required to develop a menu of excellent quality food by utilising FareShare and Classic Catering lines and sourcing produce from local suppliers by forging strong relationships and negotiating innovative best-price deals.
You will be required to participate in the preparing and cooking of food, whilst providing ‘on the job’ training and supporting the learning of Trainees, Apprentices and Volunteers within a catering setting.
It is essential that you possess a relevant catering qualification (minimum Level 3) as well as a Teaching and Assessing qualification such as PCGE/Cert Ed/PTTLS/CTTLS and an Assessor Award.
You will also have at least two years’ experience of running a catering business, kitchen or cafe and experience of running cooking or other training courses. In addition to knowledge of all relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene legislation, you must have a minimum Level 3 Food Hygiene Certification and would ideally be CIEH registered.
The role will require you to have excellent communication and leadership skills with a professional, confident, calm approach to work, colleagues and customers.
As a budget holder, it is essential that you have knowledge of financial management in a catering facility.
